Identity Protection

IDCheck

Introducing a secure, simple, and quick way to verify your identity.

Shared Branch is now easier and more secure.

IDCheck is a new tool within the Shared Branch network that aims to strengthen security against identity fraud.

Beginning May 1, 2025, credit union members using an out-of-state ID at a Shared Branch will need to complete the IDCheck verification process when making withdrawals.

Using IDCheck

For those using an out-of-state ID for withdrawals, you will be prompted by a teller to scan a QR code with your mobile device to start the validation process.

    1. Scan the QR code with your mobile device when visiting a branch, or visit verify.coop.org.
    2. Accept the ‘Terms & Conditions’ and tap ‘Start.’
    3. Enter the name of your home credit union.
    4. Type in your account number and the last 4 digits of your Social Security number. Select ‘I Agree’ to accept the terms for authentication.
    5. Take a photo of your government-issued ID. (Note: Allow access to your camera if necessary and follow the on screen instructions.)
    6. Take a photo of yourself.
    7. When verification is complete, you will receive a one-time access code to share with a Sound teller to perform your transaction. The access code is active for 20 minutes.

You are encouraged to save your authentication information. On your next visit, IDCheck will use this saved information to provide you with an access code once you scan the QR code or visit verify.coop.org, skipping steps 3 through 6.
